The Management of Islamic Boarding School Curriculum in Developing Students’ Character at Dayah Mahyal Ulum Al-Aziziyah, Aceh Besar

This study examines the curriculum management of Pondok Pesantren Mahyal Ulum Al-Aziziyah Sukamakmur in shaping students’ character amid the challenges of globalization and modernization. The purpose of this research is to explore the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the pesantren curriculum in developing students’ character. This study employs a qualitative research method with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the processes of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through prolonged engagement and triangulation techniques. The results show that curriculum planning includes the preparation of activity programs, teaching strategies, and financial management integrated into the pesantren curriculum. The implementation is carried out through various religious and educational activities such as sorogan, syawir, congregational prayers, and classical Islamic book studies (kitab kuning), all of which are mandatory for resident students. Curriculum evaluation is conducted monthly and every semester through several activities, including direct manaqib reading tests, to assess students’ moral and character development for continuous improvement.
