The Influence of Visual Media and Learning Motivation on Students’ Islamic Education Learning Outcomes in Grade VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Batee Pidie, Aceh Province

This study aims to determine the influence of visual media and learning motivation on students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) among Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Batee, Pidie Regency, Aceh Province. The visual media used in this research focused on static visual materials as learning tools. This research employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The population consisted of 90 students, and a total of 30 students were selected as samples using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection techniques included observation to align the researcher’s understanding with field conditions, pretest and posttest instruments for the visual media variable (X₁), questionnaires for the learning motivation variable (X₂), and documentation to obtain data on the learning outcomes variable (Y). The findings revealed that visual media had a significant influence on students’ learning outcomes in class VIII-1 of SMP Negeri 1 Batee, as evidenced by the t-test results with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Furthermore, students’ learning motivation also positively affected their PAI learning outcomes, with an average questionnaire score of 88.67, showing that nearly 60% of students were highly motivated to learn. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of visual media and learning motivation jointly and significantly influence students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education at SMP Negeri 1 Batee.
