Abstract

The development of students' moral character is one of the primary objectives of Islamic education, which is fostered through the habituation of religious activities within the school environment. This study aims to describe the implementation process of religious activity habituation and analyze its impact on the development of students' moral character at Huda Wan Nur Integrated Islamic Elementary School, Langsa. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the Vice Principal for Student Affairs, Tahfidz teachers, and students as the research participants. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Data credibility was ensured through prolonged engagement, persistent observation, and triangulation of techniques and data sources. The findings reveal that the habituation of religious activities is systematically implemented through congregational prayers, Qur'an memorization (Tahfidz), morning charity programs, daily prayers, short Islamic sermons, Hadith memorization, basic Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) learning, and various religious competitions. These activities are conducted routinely, systematically, and supported by teachers' role modeling, contributing significantly to the development of students' moral character, including discipline, responsibility, religiosity, perseverance, empathy, and self-confidence. Furthermore, the positive impact of these habituation programs extends beyond the school environment and is reflected in students' daily behavior within their families. These findings indicate that the habituation of religious activities plays a significant role in strengthening character education in Islamic elementary schools.
